Sergei Prokofiev's masterpiece takes on a new form in the essential magic of shadow theater. Controluce Teatro d'Ombre, with over thirty years of formal research, encounters the most famous score in classical music for children.
In Prokofiev's brilliant intuition, each character is associated with an instrumental timbre: the oboe becomes the duck's waddling step, the flute the bird's swift flight, the horns the wolf's dark shadow among the trees, and so on.
The narrative unfolds on three levels: the narrating voice, the sound world of the Symphony Orchestra, and the Shadow Theatre (with the original silhouettes of Cora Demaria), which suggests rather than shows, with a language of lights, reflections and abstractions. Not a simple illustration, but a visual interpretation that entrusts the spectator—whether young or adult—with the task of completing, with their own imagination, what the shadow suggests.
An invitation to actively listen, beyond the music, to the wonder of an ancient art that reveals, once again, its surprising modernity.
